Tutu Fabulous
Is it any wonder most girls grab the tutus first from the dress up box?

(Glamour) Girl Friday
Today I thought I would share one of my all time favourite designers, Maya Hansen.
Corsetry Extraordinaire. Absolutely adore her designs and her styling of photos, always glorious.
"The most important concept in which I work with is the idea of an independent, strong and feminine, sweet and sexy, elegant and a little trashy, but always personal and unique kind of woman". Maya Hansen

Flower Arranging
In amongst the pillow fluffing and cupcake frosting yesterday, I rearranged the flowers. Plastic flowers there's something so comforting in their kitsch. They remind me of my grandmothers house, they even smell the same that old plasticy smell. Years ago I bought the large vase from the local opshop and decided some plastic flowers would look great in them but couldn't find them anywhere until I searched ebay. Seems there was a rush on plastic flowers that day because I ended up paying a ridiculous amount of money for this bunch. But I love them. A good mixed bunch with even a gladioli or two. They arrived in the mail in a rather large box with $3.00 the lot written on it. Hilarious, I so didn't pay that!
So my bright blooms sit on my grandmothers dresser with its blue chippy paint which I love and reminds me of her every day. As I type this SQ and EB are winging their way home not long now. Thanks for the lovely comments yesterday xx

Nesting
Pillows need to be fluffed and copious amounts of food needs to be prepared. SQ is coming home for several days with English Boy (EB) who sounds distinctly like Jude Law. They have requested "Mum" food. I will happily oblige. Can hardly wait. There's a buzz in the air and the 1980's song Celebration keeps playing in my head. She's kind of a big deal around here. Doesn't matter how old they get, I'm at my happiest when my bambinos are under the one roof x

Business Etiquette 101
A couple of weeks ago my job was made redundant. I thought it was time I brushed up on my business skills in an ever increasing competitive job market. And so I turned to the internet. Here is what I found ....
5. Follow up interesting contacts met at networking functions with either a hand written note, a phone call or an email
thanks Patsy, you're a star x

Taken from Patsy Rowe's Five Etiquette Tips for Instant Success
2. When being introduced, smile (is that Brad from Rachel Zoe??)
3. When making introductions, always use an information 'tag', e.g. "Mary has been working on world peace" Ok I took a bit of creative license with this one Patsy's example did say Mary had been working in Afghanistan.
4. Develop your listening skills... the best asset of a good conversationalist is their ability to appear totally absorbed by what the speaker is saying.

Flea Market Finds
I've been following Sophie and the girls at flea market finds for a little while now and so excited to be playing along for the first time today.
Finds from my recent road trip with my mum.
Love a good road trip.
Suitcase and red port were sitting together, you always know you've got a find when the opshop lady says "Oh those just came in this morning" and a selection of old hats, love the pink one especially, it looks brand new and a little peek inside the suitcase the pattern is divine. I think I'm going to use it to store my shoes.
For some fleamarket oohing and aahing you can go here.
Happy Sundayx

I'm A Lucky Girl
Straight To The Naughty Corner
After a long conversation yesterday with SQ it was decided that we do indeed possess the naughty gene, for me being a secretary for many years I guess it came with the territory, they do after all have a club for us and for SQ well lets just say her teenage years, apart from being very character building for me, have left me with plenty of examples. So next time you have to drive 30 minutes to go hire a movie because every video shop within a 10 kilometre radius has overdue late fees remember these wise words ....
"Well behaved women rarely make history" Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
"Be naughty, save Santa the trip" Gary Allen
and my all time fave by Mae West "I used to be snow white, but I drifted"
That naughty corner, never looked so good x

I Dream
of one day having my walls adorned with fabulous Florence Broadhurst wallpaper. By all accounts she was quite the character which makes her all the more appealing. Anyone who insists on wearing a red dress to a strictly black and white Sydney social event back in the day has my vote.
