Lets Get Shabby

So happy to be playing along with the girls over at Lets Get Shabby this month, love this challenge site so much inspiration.
It's the Chrissie Challenge and TallulahBelles is sponsoring the prizes

LET'S GET SHABBY'S CHALLENGE #18
IS

We would like you to share your favourite Christmas song/carol or hymn.
You could use it as a title on your layout or use parts of it as your journaling.

It’s got to be noticeable!

If you don’t celebrate Christmas –
you can share one of your special occasion or celebration song/carol or hymn

Here's my take on the challenge

Deck the Halls love this song its just so happy. I used vintage doilies and bingo card and normally I use the sewing pattern images on the outside of the packet the nice vintage colourful ones but lately I've been drawn to the sepia matching images on the instruction sheet.

So to join in pop on over to Lets Get Shabby, those girls they definately rock the pretty stuff x

Happy Halloween

collage created using vintage paper doilies, paper doll dress, vintage bookplate, trims, old fashioned curtain pull, rhinestones, vintage receipt.

Reno Boy was in charge of going to the corner shop this evening to stock up on lollies for trick or treaters. With specific instructions to only buy wrapped lollies he returns with ...... Barley Sugar! Now from a kids perspective is that a trick or treat?

Happy Halloween x

Friday Flicks

Yesterday afternoon after school RC and I headed out to see The Social Network. I was really interested in seeing this film and it didn't disappoint. It was brilliant, ironic, funny, sad and complex.

Next on the list is Made In Dagenham love a good I Am Woman movie. Can't Wait.

A Little Bit Strictly Ballroom

Fabulous frock find of the day. Lifeline in the Fancy Dress Section. Seriously some of my best finds have been in the fancy dress box and the dog blanket section (the hiding spot for all good chenille) The rhinestones are in perfect condition, not one stone missing and the top of the dress reminds me of some fabulous ballroom number. Perfection x

My Creative Space

Today on my kitchen table is the production line. So much fun. Found these old plastic flower frogs at the opshop recently which are just perfect for holding my whimsy hairpins.

For more crafty lady happenings head over here x

A most fabulous find

Returning to markets selling vintage clothing and preloved glam means alot more time spent opshopping. Perfect. My dream job. Sometimes I can't bear to part with a purchase. Like this

My favourite skirt purchase this year. RC wants to share it. SQ enquired as to whether it was vintage Prada. No, Lifeline $12.00 Love this skirt x

Mademoiselle Lah De Dah

RC has just completed choosing her Senior subjects with French being the top of the list. It seems I have a budding Francophile in the fam with plans for a Parisienne room makeover and the declaration of "Mum we shall travel to France at the end of Year 12" and so last night as we sat gluing and delving into the button tins to pick the prettiest ones we spoke of our dreams and goals for the coming months and decided we were making our way to Paris one hair pin at a time x

Breakfast At Tiffs

Just uploading some doilies to ClaraBows and thought I would share a piccie which includes one of my all time favourite finds, my Breakfast At Tiffanys Soundtrack bought from an Armidale opshop back in my uni days circa 1986. It has been lugged from home to home since then, survived SQ who snaffled the vintage tiara that used to sit beside it, and being quite dogeared would have very little monetary value but I love it, sentimental finds they are just the best don't you think?

Democracy?

The unfolding of today's events makes me wonder

(a) should I check with Bill Shorten et al before I fill out my next ballot paper?
(b) is Julia now donning a footie jersey to play with Jason Ackermanis this weekend?

This morning I woke to my boy saying "you'll be happy we'll have a female prime minister by this afternoon". You see I am a rather vocal advocate of women's rights, always have been always will be but today has left a bad taste in my mouth because alongwith believing in a woman's right to hold the highest office in this country I also strongly believe in authenticity, loyalty and taking responsibility, not passing the buck when the chips are down. I understand there have always been factions and "power brokers" within the labor party however I believe a group of four men deciding to replace a Prime Minister voted to office by the Australian people is the absolute height of arrogance.

(Glamour) Girl Friday

Today I thought I would share one of my all time favourite designers, Maya Hansen.
Corsetry Extraordinaire. Absolutely adore her designs and her styling of photos, always glorious.

"The most important concept in which I work with is the idea of an independent, strong and feminine, sweet and sexy, elegant and a little trashy, but always personal and unique kind of woman". Maya Hansen
